2. Why would I want to use propane gas instead of electricity?

Propane offers an excellent alternative to electricity due to its high efficiency, convenience and low cost. Propane is clean burning and reliable, but most importantly, switching to propane can reduce your energy bill by as much as 20%!

3. How is propane gas more environmentally friendly?

Propane is an approved ‘clean’ fuel, listed in the 1990 Clean Air Act and the Energy Policy Act of 1992, as it emits fewer greenhouse gases than other fuels, like gasoline and diesel, and is non-toxic.

6. Is using propane gas safe? What about leaks?

Propane is widely considered to be a very safe and easy-to-handle fuel, and because of its high ignition point, it is very difficult to set alight accidentally in the event of a leak. Propane is colourless and odourless, thus a special chemical is added to give propane its distinct smell, making it easier to detect.

7. How do I refill my cylinders? What do I do with my old cylinders?

All 100 lb cylinders are the property of Bermuda Gas, and are maintained and replaced by certified Bermuda Gas technicians. Simply call 295-3111 to have your cylinders refilled or replaced.

Smaller and / or custom steel cylinders are owned outright by the  purchaser and can only be filled at the RUBiS St. George’s Depot in Ferry Reach. Composite BBQ Cylinders (17lb) are available through our Cylinder Exchange Programme at the following  RUBiS Service Stations: RUBiS Dowling’s Marine – Penno’s Drive, St. George’s, RUBiS Causeway Service Station– Blue Hole Hill, Hamilton Parish, RUBiS Terceira’s – North Shore Rd, Smith’s, RUBiS St. John’s Service Station – St. John’s Rd, Pembroke, RUBiS East Broadway Service Station– East Broadway, Pembroke,RUBiS Paget Service Station – Middle Rd, Paget, RUBiS Warwick – South Shore Rd, Warwick, RUBiS Raynor’s Southampton Service Station – Middle Rd, Southampton, RUBiS Robinson’s Marine Station – Somerset Bridge, Sandy’s, RUBiS Boaz Island Marine & Service Station – Sandy’s  20lb steel BBQ cylinders are available for purchase and exchange at Gorham’s on St. John’s Road and Masters on Dundonald Street. 33lb forklift cylinders are available at the following RUBiS Service Stations: East Broadway, Terceira’s North Shore and Warwick South Shore Stations.

8. How do I get gas for my home? How do I start an account?

You must have a Bermuda Gas account in order to purchase 100 lb cylinders or bulk propane for your home or business. To start a Bermuda Gas account, follow the instructions found on our New Account Sign-up page. Orders can then be placed in person, by telephone, fax or email.
